Borer’s intelligent FUSION smartcard reader combines together a reader head and control panel in one small device.

Borer FUSION Smartcard Reader

Aesthetically pleasing with a sleek black housing and just 45mm wide. Designed for Power over Ethernet Access Control, the FUSION Smartcard Reader has card validation and decision making capabilities at the point of swipe, eliminating the need for a separate control panel, wall box and mains power supply at each door unlike typical competitive systems, bringing cost savings at the time of installation and over the lifetime of the product.

Both Power and Data are supplied from the Borer Midspan Bridge using IEEE 802.3af (PoE) based power delivery systems, providing protection against short circuit, polarity reversal and the accidental connection of non-compliant equipment. Up to 8 devices can be powered from a single Midspan Bridge.

The removal of unnecessary equipment together with a low energy profile delivers a ‘Cleaner, Leaner and Greener’ solution, reducing the cost of ownership.

Support for open standard (ISO 14443A & B - Mifare and Desfire, ISO 15693) technologies, allows a single card to be used for a range of applications including: banking, travel card, cashless vending, access control and attendance recording.

Features:

  • Power to the Door via CAT5e Cable
Borer Midspan Bridge technology delivers power and data over a single CAT5e cable and removes the need for a mains outlet and power supply at each door.

  • Energy Savings of up to £60 a year per door
Centralised power distribution over CAT5e cable provides enough energy to power a in & out reader and Electric Strike or Magnetic Lock.

  • Less Equipment to Install
The elimination of a control panel, wall box and power supply reduces component count, need for bespoke cabling and installation cost normally associated with card access control systems.

  • Dual Databases
Dual databases of cardholders and access rights. Up to 2 x 60,000 card holders/transactions held at every reader head, allowing fallback to the last known good database in the event of a data corruption or network interruption during database download.

  • Data Security
Encryption of the database at the card reader ensures that data held at the reader can not be manipulated or hacked.

  • Future Proof
Firmware updates can be automatically downloaded directly to the reader head over the LAN enabling new smart card standards and card formats to be supported when they are introduced.
