Borer FUSION Smartcard Reader talks to Legic Cards

The Borer FUSION Smartcard Reader now supports Legic Cards, by reading the Legic Card Serial Number. This allows existing users of Legic Cards with Borer Smartcard readers to migrate to ISO standard DESFire or smart cards without replacing the card reader head.

The change-over can be seamless as the FUSION Reader can be set to read both Legic and DESFire/Smartcards, only switching off the Legic reading capability when the card changeover is complete.

The Borer FUSION Smartcard reader works with open format cards which, unlike systems that use proprietary and exclusive formats, eliminates single supplier dependence and benefits the user with lower cost for replacement cards

The FUSION Smartcard reader supports industry standard (ISO 14443A and B - Mifare and DESfire, ISO 15693) technologies where a single card can be used for a range of applications including: access control, attendance recording, travel card and cashless vending. 

Firmware updates are automatically downloaded directly to the reader head over the LAN enabling new smart card standards to be supported as they are introduced.
